Forest Animals
By Gabby
Merritt Island, Florida
"Ahhh! Todd what was that?" exclaimed Maggie, frightened.
"Shhh. It probably heard you. What if it was a bear?" Todd whispered, shivering.
The two twelve year olds had went for a little trip to the forest and were lost.
A big, green bush had moved. Maggie and Todd were frightened cold, and were ready to scream or even faint at the slightest movement or noise.
Maggie and Todd shrank into the shadow of a tree as something was rustling the bush, again. This time a brown squirrel dashed out of the bush and stood on its hind legs, starring at the two horrified children.
"Why, hello there!" squeaked the squirrel.
It took a moment for Maggie to realize that the words had come from the squirrel. When she screamed, she collapsed.
Todd stood frozen, but was able to shout, "You can talk!"
Maggie got back onto her wobbling feet and saw the squirrel give a tired look.
"Do you two need any help? Not lost, are you?" the squirrel asked.
Todd nodded and the squirrel sighed. Just then a red fox trotted from behind a tree.
He asked, "Is somebody in our forest lost?"
The squirrel nodded and pointed at Maggie and Todd.
"We need to find a way out of here; did you see two tents around here somewhere?" Maggie asked.
"Sure did! Follow me," the fox said.
The fox moved swiftly among the trees while Maggie and Todd clumsily tripped over tree roots and fell quickly behind. The fox waited for them patiently.
Finally, they arrived at their campsite, when their parents noticed they were back, the fox winked and disappeared back into the forest.
Todd and Maggie decided this trip through the forest would be their little secret.

Her dream is to become a jockey and one day competes in the Kentucky derby or be and artist and draw horses. Of course she would need a horse first. She has been packing for weeks because tomorrow she is going to the Kentucky derby.
1 day later
Well the ride was worth it she was finally there. Well I better go to sleep she said on her way upstairs in the hotel. The next thing she new she was walking in the woods. She thought for a minute, what happened were could I be? Then something caught her eye, there was a rumbling in the bushes…what could it be she thought. Then she saw a line of marbles so she decided to fallow them.
The path was long but after a while it stopped, she looked up. There was a beautiful pond with birds and flowers it was beautiful! She stood there just staring for a while. Then she took out her journal and started to draw the beautiful scenery. "What are you drawing" a voice said. She didn't answer; she was to scared of who it might be. She looked up, it was a fairy! The voice said don't you want a horse? Leah filled with joy, YES!
Once Again the next thing she new she was riding her new pony in the Kentucky derby!
Then she was in her bed she had woken up! It was all just a dream. She ran downstairs as fast as she could and told her mom the whole thing. She just shook her head no honey you were dreaming. Leah was heart broken.
Fourth of July

The Bright flashes of color, beamed across the sky, looking as though it would hit the moon. You could hear people, children elders and babies, cheering happily, as the Fourth of July Fire Crackers boomed everywhere. I never really found July 4th, to be, how should I put this, fun. Yes, fun's the word. Getting my ear drums popped was not my idea of a good time, but I didn't really have a choice. Mom insisted that I come with the family every time, even if I begged to stay home for just one year.
I covered my ears, as the firecrackers finished off with a loud sonic boom. I sighed a breath of relief, happy it was finally over. Of course I have respect for my country and what not, but this wasn't....fun.
My mom put my little sister, Alexis, down on the grass, and she went running to my Aunt. Mom glanced at me, seeing how bored I looked.
"Maria…" she began. I looked at her, waiting for more. "Cant you just try to have fun?" she asked. I shrugged.
"Its very difficult for me mom... When are we leaving?" I asked, looking behind her.
She started saying something, probably answering my question, but I was too busy gazing at the most beautiful boy I have ever seen. Kevin. He's in my Science class, but no one ever pays attention to me. I'm the shy, artsy, "Weirdo", loner, girl. I don't find myself to be a weirdo, just because I like to draw, use big words instead of slang, and listen to country rock music. I'm just different...what's wrong with that?
I watched him toss a football back and fourth with some other boy. I jumped, when my mom tapped my shoulder, interrupting me.
"Lets go Maria" she said.
I looked at him one last time, and walked back to the car.

By Rhea

Once upon a time there was a frog. The frog jumped and jumped and jumped and he was a very naughty frog. He went to tease his friends, 'na na na boo boo'', he would say. When the animals went to sleep, he would go to the lions tail and put fire on it. The tiger would yell E E E A O O O ….. ' The tiger then ran after the frog.
The next day, the frog got teased by all his friends. The frog yelled 'silly silly yo yo' all day and night to his friends. The frog after teasing his friends said 'Come on guys CHILL!', its just for fun. After listening to the frog, all his friends then started laughing ' HA HA HA!
'You silly frog, didn't you know that you were hurting our feelings when you were teasing us and now you are saying it was a joke? You should be ashamed of your self'. The frog then said,' I'm sorry friends , I will never do it again.'
Then one day, the frogs cousin was a teaser too. The frogs cousin pulled the tigers tail and said , 'Frog, why aren't you teasing your friends?' The frog said 'That's because they were teasing me back. So now, I have become a good frog , cousin. Now run along and don't tease the tiger' . The tiger said to the nice frog ' Thank you for taking care of me'.
After that all the animals lived happily ever after with no teasing happening at all.
